The Memory of Negro Fort Podcast tells the story of how and why Americans have remembered and erased the largest autonomous community of runaway enslaved people and Native Americans in the history of the United States. The first three episodes are now available wherever you listen to podcasts.
Latest Episode
By the summer of 1815, the remaining inhabitants at Prospect Bluff had transformed the former British outpost into a thriving autonomous maroon community. In July 1816, American forces illegally invaded Spanish Florida and destroyed the fort after a brutal siege.
