Yovanna Pineda

Associate Professor, Department of History

Yovanna Pineda is a historian of technology and Latin American history at UCF. Her major published works include Industrial Development in a Frontier Economy (Stanford University Press, 2009) and a series of articles on rural technology and culture published in the Journal of International Affairs, Agricultural History, and Historia Agraria de America Latina. Her current book project, Factory Lifework and the Meanings of Machine-making and Maintenance in Argentina, draws on archival data, vintage film and media, and over 60 interviews conducted between 2016 and 2020. She has also produced and directed documentary films including Stories of the Harvester (2019), Los Contratistas (2018), and Las Reinas (2017). She earned her Ph.D. in Latin American and Economic History from UCLA (2002).
