The Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) opened its doors last year for a for a new addition to the center to expand space and technological capabilities. In January 2020, CHDR was awarded a $193,736 challenge grant from the National Endowment for Humanities (NEH). The NEH grant, which requires UCF to contribute matching funds, will enable the expansion of a digital humanities collaboratory in UCF’s Trevor Colbourn Hall and update CHDR’s equipment to support collaborative research, digital preservation, digital access and public programming. With your generous donation, crucial equipment can be purchased to help enable CHDR to continue to pursue excellent partnerships with the community and to teach students to scan and preserve historical documents, build databases, and curate the stories from the past.

With your support, we will be able to work toward our goal in expanding the center's public programming spaces and make a larger impact on students' experiential learning through access to training on key technologies and other digital research tools.

For Example...

  • $100 supports the cost of a portable hard drive to back up research data.
  • $250 covers the cost of a projector for research demonstration and public presentations.
  • $500 helps to cover one Adobe Creative Suite license.
  • $1,000 covers the cost of one computer for student use in the center.
  • $2,000 helps toward the purchase of specialized scanners for scanning large artifacts, photographic negatives and other items needing source lighting.
